Introduction Trying to replace a fuel pump in the tank of a third generation Camaro can be a difficult process, and before you try that, it is recommended to check or replace the fuel pump relay.

Diagnostic When the key is on the on position, you should hear a sound coming from the back of the car. This indicates that the fuel pump has just send fuel on the lines and it is ready to be started. If that sound is not present, this can indicate a fuel pump failure, a bad relay or other fuel related issue.

The first step is to check the fuel pump relay. If the relay is malfunctioning or inoperable, it will cause the fuel pump to stop sending fuel to the engine. Replacing a fuel pump relay is easy and can save you a lot of time trying to replace the fuel pump.

Location

The third generation Camaro has several relays in the engine bay. The fuel pump relay is located in the driver side close to the brake system.
