Ram Air hoods are hoods with a opening on the front of the hood, where air is forced into the engine. The 1996-1997 SS's came with functional Ram Air hoods. The 1998-2002 SS's came with cosmetic Ram Air hoods, that did not have the duct work to make them functional (air was not blown into the engine).
