The term "posi" is used to describe a rear differntial that applies power to both wheels during acceleration, but allows the wheels to rotate at different speeds during cornering. Posi is short for Posi-Traction which was a marketing term that GM used to name the option. GM now refers to them as Limited Slip differentials.
