The LS1 Platform was created with much research and development starting around 1995.  The first LS1 Engine found it's home under the hood of the 1997 Corvette, then eventually was given to the late 4th generation F-Body platform in 1998. There is little about this engine that carries over from it's predecessors and that is the 4.4 inch bore spacing.  These engines respond very well to modifications, and there were also a few factory 'freaks' that managed to churn out an IMPRESSIVE 400bhp in stock form.
