A short stick is a shifter stick that replaces the tall, ugly stock shift stick on the 93-02 camaro's and firebird's and made for the 6-speed manual transmission. These can usually be bolted directly in place of the stock shift stick in 10 minutes or less. This small modification can shorten your shifts by up to 25%. Short sticks are made of many different materials; the most popular being steel. These sticks can range in price from $10-$50.

Fitment Issues

While installing your short stick you may run into a little problem. Many f-body owners that attempt to install a short stick notice that either the shift knob hits the center console or the stick itself hits the console. Although annoying this can be prevented very easily. Your options are as follows:

1. Buy a short stick that has a small bend. Such as Lou's Short Stick. (Allows the shift knob and stick to come short of hitting the console because of the small bend)

2. Upgrade your shifter to a perfomance shifter. (The stock, non Hurst shifter seems to be the shifter with the most cases of hitting the console. Very few performance shifters enable it to make contact with the console)
